A new approach in a changing world
CARE for MDD is a new, digital approach to treating major depressive disorder (MDD, also known as depressive disorder or clinical depression), which can be used alongside existing therapy to help reduce your symptoms.
CARE for MDD puts control in your hands via an easy-to-use smartphone app, enabling you to manage this part of your treatment.
There are 3 parts of the app - brain exercises, therapeutic lessons, and text messages and in-app notifications - each of which has been designed with your needs at the forefront.
Scientifically developed and tested
The brain exercises within the CARE for MDD app were developed with psychiatrists and psychotherapists, with patient input, using scientifically and clinically validated exercises.
Developed with privacy and security in mind
CARE for MDD has been designed to align with data protection and privacy standards, possessing Cyber Essentials accreditation. It proudly holds DTAC certification and complies with UKCA regulatory requirements, ensuring robust privacy and security adherence.
How does CARE for MDD work?
There are 3 parts of the app, each developed to support you throughout your treatment with CARE for MDD:
Brain exercises that can help break the cycle of negative thinking that is a part of your type of depression
Used regularly, these exercises can strengthen the connections between the emotional and cognitive or ‘thinking’ parts of the brain, improving how they work together which may help to reduce symptoms of MDD (also known as depressive disorder or clinical depression).
Therapeutic lessons built on 3 core principles
- Providing skills to help with negative thinking and support positive behavioural and emotional practices
- Building real-life skills to reinforce the background effect of the brain exercises
- Developing a consistent schedule of therapeutic lessons and brain exercises, empowering you to take control of your treatment
Text messages and in-app notifications to help you stay on top of your exercises and lessons
Optional in-app reminders encourage you to complete exercises and help to reinforce learnings from the therapeutic lessons.
Building a routine may help to make it easier to stay on top of treatment.
Digital Technology Assessment Criteria (DTAC) is an NHS developed assessment criteria covering clinical safety, data protection, technical security, interoperability, usability and accessibility.
